To say that I am overwhelmed, inspired, and blown-away by Cait and Tate’s Tango Retreat 2025 is not an exaggeration. Their highly organized, energetic, warm and caring style is reflected in their thoughtful and well-balanced planning of this small-group experience. There is no better way to improve your tango than to receive daily tactile feedback from your teachers in this highly-personalized setting. Add to that — enjoying meals together at the most iconic spots around the city, cultural excursions, nightly milongas at the most famous dance halls, live tango orchestras, and a weekend getaway to the countryside for some hiking with wild horses, local asado, spa treatments, and awe-inspiring mountain views. Because of their wonderful positive energy and local insight, Cait and Tate curated an experience I can only describe as “next level”. 100% recommend!

A Tango Journey Like No Other – Unforgettable, Authentic, and Life-Changing”
— Marty Gooden (DJ Tincho), Dayton, Ohio
As a tango DJ, dancer, and instructor I’ve worked with teachers from across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, but nothing prepared me for the magic of Buenos Aires—especially with Tate’s Tango Travel Experience guiding the way.
From the moment I landed, Tate made sure every detail was seamless. I stayed at Tango Oasis, one of the premier tango houses in the city, and received daily instruction with Tate and his talented tanguera partners. The evenings were packed with dancing at iconic venues like Salón Canning, La Viruta, El Beso, La Nacional, and La Glorieta—each offering its own unique flavor of Buenos Aires nightlife.
What truly set this trip apart were the exclusive private sessions—my time with Maricel Giacomini and Horacio Godoy was unforgettable. Tate also made sure tango wasn’t the only experience. He became my guide and translator as we explored the barrios of San Telmo, Villa Crespo, Palermo, and La Boca, enjoyed live music at Santa Crespi, and paid homage to tango’s greatest at the Recoleta and Chacarita cemeteries.
Of course, no visit to Argentina would be complete without indulging in the cuisine. From Argentine barbecue to dulce de leche, media lunas, and empanadas, every meal felt like a cultural embrace. I was welcomed into Tate’s circle of friends and family, which added warmth and authenticity to the experience.
The journey didn’t stop there. We ventured into the province of San Luis, to Carpintería, nestled in the breathtaking Sierras de Comechingones. It was a peaceful contrast to the bustling city—a perfect way to reflect and connect with another side of Argentina.
From start to finish, Tate was more than a host—he was a teacher, planner, cultural interpreter, and friend. He created an itinerary that was focused yet flexible, and so transformative that my partner, Jessica, booked her own customized trip with him the following year.
If you’re looking for a deeply immersive tango journey—one that takes you off the tourist path, gives you personalized dance instruction, and opens doors to the best milongas and maestros in Buenos Aires—design your experience with Tate. It’s not just a trip; it’s a lifetime memory.
By Diana Howes from Charlotte NC:
I started Argentine tango dancing at the age of 71 to support
my vision that I am growing younger.
Two years later I went to Argentina for Tate and Cait’s retreat.
The whole experience was amazingly special.
The itinerary was well planned, and covered many historical and
cultural experiences in addition to tango lessons, milongas, and live
musical performances.
Tate and Cait gave their all to make sure our days were filled with
good food, lessons, dancing, and sight-seeing.
Tate’s teaching took my dancing to the next level.
He very patiently explained the finer details until
they became a part of me.
